Krekerij is a company which produces products made from crickets and grasshoppers. They describe themselve as tasty, healthy and sustainable. While targeting chefs and restaurants they also provide lectures, workshops, catering and can come by with their food truck.

The Krekerij is founded by Sander Peltenburg and George Brandenburg. After discovering the cricket as a meat substitute they were immediately convinced. Together Sander and George saw the crickets as a new meat substitute with a high amount of protein. However the preparation could be better. After a lot of experimenting they made a cricket burger. This makes it easier for western people to eat insects. Now they produce cricketburgers and krekancini cricketballs.

Why crickets as a sustainable meat substitute?
- The crickets can be fed with waste from farmers
- They contain a lot of protein, vitamins and minerals.
- They only need a small amount of water, land and food
- They have a unique nutty taste.
- It is not vegetarian, but the footprint is as small as a
veggie burger. However the nutritional value are the
same as a beef burger.
